Carta a un Estranger

Hi there,
Now that the school year is over I wonder if you would like to come for a few days to my town. I recommend you coming during the town’s festival. This year it’s going to be from the 18th of July till the 24 of the same month.
This festival is in honour of the Greek goddess Minerva that for the ancients civilization was the goddess of knowledge and the arts. During these dates it is a tradition to make lots of activities, but the one that I enjoy the most is the “correfoc”, a night performance made by people disguised as devils and holding a stick used to fire firecrackers on them. The firecrackers make a curtain of fire and the civilians can dance under it. Obviously, they wear special clothes that protect them against the fire so they don’t get burned. It’s a fantastic spectacle for everyone who watches it and also for those who are brave enough to dance in the fire! Another tradition that has marked my town is the typical cake of Serenavall. They are made out of paste sheets and filled with cream. The cake Is covered with pine nuts and sugar. It’s really delicious!!!
If you agree coming, you can stay in a hotel near home called “can Morera dels Tarongers”. Just think about it.
Hope to see you soon.
Albert
